But what about equality?

AIt is around 1.30 PM in Delhi. The heat is at its peak and it is not even May yet. People have been waiting at the bus stop for quite a while. The bus - No 392 - to Noida doesn't operate as routinely or frequently it does in the morning or the evening. Maybe it is to do with fewer passengers in the day with most commuters already at work. Or, maybe it is to do with it being lunch time or the fact that many of these buses shift to being school buses in the afternoon. Irrespective, the wait isn't helped by the relentless sun.
Finally the bus arrives and plenty of people give up their seat at the stop and move, swiftly, in the direction of the low-floor vehicle. The bus doesn't wait for long after stopping momentarily quite a distance away from the designated stop - but that is how buses work in the capital. The vehicle doesn't stop near the curb for you to hop on, you have to run to get on. There are men and women all boarding the bus to head towards their desired destination. A woman of nearly 30 years old gets into the bus and makes her way towards the seats marked for 'women'. A sign above clearly says "mahilaye". A total of six seats are kept aside for women - despite the 25% reservation directive of the transportation authorities in 2013. That would make it nine seats for women considering 35 seats on the low-floor DTC buses.
The woman in question, sees a man sitting on the seat, gestures and points at the "mahilaye" sign above. The man, in his mid-20's, flings his backpack and gets up without a word. The woman takes the seat and the bus continues to move swiftly on the DND Bridge over the Yamuna.

--- ACROSS THE STATE LINE ---
Passengers disembark from the bus at Sector 16 stop and the woman is part of the queue. She gets off the bus in an orderly fashion - or what is the closest resemblance to order in a chaotic city. She takes one of the many battery operated rickshaws available and heads to her office. As she punches her ID card on the electronic machine to register her attendance for the day, it flashes her employee code on the screen. All good, the woman thinks in her head. She takes a quick look at her phone to check the entry time and notices a message from her boss to reach the conference room as soon as she is in. The woman knows what this is about. It is April, it is appraisal meetings month. She expects a good increase in pay for all the work she has put in over the past year.
The office AC is in full blast and the sweat pouring from her forehead starts to evaporate. She notices her boss in the room alongside the lady from Human Resources. All of them greet each other and exchange pleasantries including the mundane small talk. Finally the papers are out to discuss her performance over the past 12 months and she starts to beam with glowing numbers. The expectations get a jump with HR head also agreeing that she's been solid over the year. They shake hands and she makes way out of the room to allow one of her male colleagues to step in and discuss his performance.
She knows he's not had the best year gone by and hasn't achieved the targets as required. But he still remains upbeat to get some hike.
At the end of the day, the letters from the HR arrive and she can't hide her surprise that her raise isn't as much as she expected. On the other hand, her colleague has received a bigger hike than he deserved and even more than her. She can't help but think there is sexism and bias at play but she stops herself from approaching her boss or remonstrating among the team knowing full well how much she needs this job. She also understands any retribution would not resolve anything either. As she walks out of the third floor office, she can't hide her disappointment and the disgust with the gender discrimination at play.

--- Fact of the matter ---
Many women push for equality, rightfully so, without preaching it themselves. They are strong advocates for feminism, also rightfully so, without understanding it is about equality between both genders and not about women > men. The example of bus seats is a simple one that happens every day. Why should there be seats reserved for women? Understand that the idea is to ensure safety but why would a woman make a man get up in a fairly empty bus? Emptying the seat for pregnant ladies, reservation of seats or not, makes sense. Getting up for senior citizens and disabled is important and saving seats for them imperative.
To sum up, if you're a woman and marching up to a bus seat and making a man get up - your age or not - based on the regard that it "your" seat, you're being a hypocrite when you complain about no equality in the society.

Life goes on

For quite some time, I used to wish that if/when I were to die, things would come to a standstill. Not in a time will stand still kind of metaphorical basis but in a people's lives will come to a grinding halt kind of basis.

Yes that is selfish but isn't that what we are? We yarn to make a change in the world, on people around us - for better or for worse. And this is yet another selfish desire, last desire so to speak.

But I've come to the realisation that it doesn't happen. However much we want for it to happen - it doesn't. Yes people will shed bucketload amount of tears, there will be sadness, there will be that air of uncomfortableness but at the end of the day, it's just temporary. There will be the customs and traditions being followed and done with but after that, everyone goes home and sleeps it off.

I've tried to understand why is it that I want people's lives to stop; for their daily activities to be affected. And the answer, I think, is that everyone wants different things when it comes to 'end of life'. Some seek immortality, some a good life after death but I think I don't want either. I don't think my life, my work or my deeds will make any impact in the world and that is something everyone wants to do - atheist or religious. So, in a terribly absurd way, I hope people's lives are 'stopped' when I die. Now I understand the paradox that this is. How can someone stop living their lives when you've not made a dent in it? And that is a question I can't answer. Or can't figure out. Just yet.

My least favourite word is...

...WHATEVER, which many of you are aware irks me beyond limits. So much so, people found it amusing for it to be used around me just to get a reaction from me. And its not that its used in only one context of "end of topic" but also as a method to dismiss a question asked.

Now I realised last week that am not the only one who finds the word annoying. Apparently, 47% Americans surveyed do too. Its weird in two respects :

1. My view point is shared with Americans too! I wonder if I should feel offended :p
2. The source is a college telephone poll so having them agree with what I feel is somewhat absurd for me.

The other words which made it to the most annoying list are "You know" , "It is what it is" , "Anyway" and "At the end of the day". Why would anyone be annoyed with "At the end of the day" ?! Oh I have another one "my bad" , whatever happened to a simple "SORRY"!?

Football in the Park and the problems!

Many of the regulars would be aware that am a footie fanatic and to those who are new, welcome and you should know am a football fan.

So yeah we play football in our colony park almost every evening and its good fun except for when I lose and the muddy playing area.

First of all I would like to describe the parks situation in my colony. There are two parks right opposite each other. One is a small park with swings for kids and a walking area for right around it.The other park is where we play which is bigger and also has a sidewalk around it and a partition between it so we play football on one side and there are 2 badminton courts on the other side. So I hope you get the picture.

Now to the problems. For some weird reason unknown to me,the oldies prefer to walk right through the middle of the park when we're playing rather than using the sidewalk. One particular lady who does this everyday explains walking on the grass is good for the body. What confuses me about this reasoning is the fact that there is no freakin' grass from where you're walking!
Also, the sidewalk areas make for the goals so many a times it happens that the ball goes at pace but misses them by a mile and their atrocious reasoning goes "Mujhe lag jaati toh?" and when it does hit them ,it goes "Tumhare sorry bolne se kya hoga.Tum toh bol ke nikal jaoge, pain toh humein hoga na!".My advice to them,"If you know that we don't care why the hell are you yelling at us and why don't you walk in the opposite park!"

Which is what lead to the whole point of this post.We/I got into an argument with three aunties over the ball hitting them/not hitting them and their great reasoning skills.I suggested they walk in the other park and one lady's response was,"We don't want to get hit by the swings as they go really high and besides the kids are taken care of by the maids there,we don't want to walk with the maids". So basically you would brave the football coming at pace than swings which may or may not be used. And the worst part of the reasoning, aren't maids kept by you only? Aren't they human too? Do you not stay in the same house as them and they take care of YOUR children and you talk of them as if they are some sort of untouchables? My three lettered response to those aunties,WTF!

An Untitled Post

Its been long I blogged here and blogged about my personal life too. Although am suffering from a writers block + laziness so all my intended blog ideas are still pending. Today I will break the laziness pattern and also blog about my personal life and enter a new territory of writing called POETRY. I've never done poetry so spare the criticism if it isn't perfect or even close to being good. But here we go...

Even though we are not sailing smoothly,
Even though there is no perfect connection,
Even though there is no telepathy.

Days go by without hearing each others' voice,
Months go by without seeing each other,
Messages are the only source of contact.

Despite all this I love it when you laugh,
Love it when you giggle,
Love it when you call to say you're scared,
Love it when we argue over stupid things.

You can make anyone laugh with your laugh,
You can make anyone smile with your words,
You can make anyone feel comfortable in your presence,
You can make anyone feel nice about their rotten day,
You can make anyone watch Disney channel,
You can make anyone crave to be with you.

I love you! And I think she knows who it is for.

P.S. I know sucky poetry but did the best I could :S Hope you liked it :D

Happy Holi : Not so much!

Just when you think the festivals bring together people and create peace and harmony, there comes along an event which shatters your belief and saddens you with the state of things in our country.Holi is the festival of colours and water and laughter for kids and adults both.

One person, however, didn't seem to enjoy these things.CNN IBN reports a fisherman in Shahdol,Madhya Pradesh shot at an 8year old little girl for an innocent act of spraying colour. The 8year old girl got injured at the time but now she's to be recovering.

The villagers beat up the fisherman before handing him over to the police. All this highlights the pathetic condition of the law in our country and how awful as human beings we've become to go to such low levels.I know some of you might say,"..we wouldn't do anything like that" but being a grown up haven't you been peeved at the kids for being so excited about Holi that they started throwing balloons even before Holi?Don't forget you were in that place some time back too.

Chetan Kunte v/s NDTV

I have had a dismal evening courtesy the story that I first read on Desipundit and then covered on various blogs and condemned by various bloggers.

I would not like to go on the nitty-gritty of the situation right now but would ask you,as a reader,to click on the following link and check what other esteemed bloggers had to say of how NDTV used its might as a media conglomerate to overpower a blogger about NDTV's irresponsible media coverage during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.

Slumdog Millionaire's success and Big B's views

I'm sure everyone is aware of Slumdog Millionaire's stupendous success in Europe and America with awards at Golden Globes and nominations for the BAFTA awards and the expectancy for Oscars thereafter. If you aren't aware then click here.

What has created far greater media furor is not the movie itself but how Amitabh Bachchan criticised the movie on his blog and his comments have not gone down well with many of the film critics.

Amitabh Bachchan had earlier said :

"If SM projects India as Third World dirty under belly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky under belly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations. Its just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not."

I do not agree with The Big B's views like many others.Am the kind of people who would call a spade,a spade. If India is a third world country,it is a third world country. Its not that only the under developed countries are portrayed as poor in the movies, there have been many instances of developed countries being shown as under bellied too.The best example that comes to mind is,Erin Brockovich or The Pursuit of Happyness. Both of these movies showed how hard it was for the family to make ends meet.

Other point which he mentioned about the idea being used by the Westerner gets global recognition whereas the same cannot be said about an Indian doing the same.I wonder if any Indian film maker would move on from their concepts of love stories and "rona dhona" to interesting concepts as these.

P.S.Dharavi,the biggest slum in Asia is in Mumbai.Lets not forget the truth rather than reflect only upon the flowery picture of developing India.

What are your views on Big B's comments?

In the end,I would like to wish good luck to the whole crew of Slumdog Millionaire for the releasing of the movie in India on January 23rd and the awards nominations thereafter.

World ending?

Everyone fears death and some people actually go overboard and ask astrologers when they would die! Which obviously isn't true and cannot be predicted.Yeah I don't believe in all those things.
But coming to the point, there have been many theories about the world ending and many(all?) of them have been wrong and as we are just a few hours away from another story doing the rounds of the Earth being engulfed into a black hole and world coming to an end tomorrow, that is 10th September 2008.
Then there is another theory revolving around Mayan Calendar and the world ending on 21st December,2012 according to that theory.Upon some research I found this quote by Dr. Jose Arguelles in "Time and The Technosphere" :
"August 13, 3113 BC is as precise and accurate as one can get for a beginning of history: the first Egyptian dynasty is dated to ca 3100 BC; the first 'city,' Uruk, in Mesopotamia, also ca 3100 BC; the Hindu Kali Yuga, 3102 BC; and most interestingly, the division of time into 24 hours of 60 minutes each and each minute into 60 seconds [and the division of the circle into 360 degrees], also around 3100 BC, in Sumeria. If the beginning of history was so accurately placed, then must not the end of history, December 21, 2012 also be as accurate?"

Lets take this into consideration that the world would end tomorrow, what would be the last thing you would want to do?

I personally would want to kiss my gf before something like that would happen or at least hope to do that!Even if kissing isn't possible then at least hearing her voice would do! Yeah romantic, hain na?

Now you tell me what you would do?

Delhi vs Mumbai: Political Capital vs Financial Capital

VS

I apologise that I haven't written in 2months,so here I am with a well a cliched topic!

I know this topic has been discussed time and again and its like New York vs Washington,Men vs Women(cliched comparisons I mean) but I wanted to jump the bandwagon too as well I recently visited Mumbai and since am a Delhite, the comparisons just becomes well inevitable.

I won't be comparing based upon random things which other sites/blogs would but I would be making the comparison upon things that matter to ME!So you see how something that might matter to you,may/may not matter to me.In short,I decide what goes!

I would be putting down 5 positives of both the cities,so here we go!

Delhi(because home comes first!)

1.Food - I mean who cannot like Delhi food. There is street food, which includes Indian and Tibetan(Momos, big hit!) then there are restaurants which offer every cuisine a normal human being would want to eat.(Yes that rules out rats and other weird animals.TOO BAD!)

2.Space - There is ample space.Well compared to other big cities I've been to.And this by the way does not include parking spaces which is well a big problem but other than that there is good enough space to roam about and have parks and all.

3.Metro - Although the transport in general is a mess with over charging autos, buses not being comfortable but Metro is a great service.Although its getting messy now too but who cares! Public transport hai what do you expect!?

4.Infrastructure - Look at the roads, the flyovers, the toll bridges! You think you've reached some German city where there is no speed limit and you can zip pass the slow cars or well slow drivers too.(oldies need to learn to move faster than 40kmph!)

5.More brands - Well this doesn't matter much to me but hey compare the brands we have here to the ones in other big cities. And Delhi doesn't mean Delhi ONLY but NCR(national capital region) so we have looooadsa places to chill and shop.

Mumbai(probably the second home :p)

1.Law abiders - Yeah people here actually abide by the law and it doesn't matter if its day time or night time.Law is Law! I like it when people abide by the law, especially road rules like lane driving and respecting the road signs and if the sign says ONE WAY then it has to be ONE WAY and not change to two way that happens in Delhi.

2.Transport - Unlike the auto walah's in Delhi who just charge according to their whims and fancies,Mumbai auto walah's would take you according to the meter and so would the cabbies.Be it day,be it night.Meter is what decides the fare and there is no bickering over the charges too.As for the prime transport "The Local Train",its great but I would die to get inside it in one go,especially in rush hours and sometimes I think the rush hours don't end at all!

3.Respect for Women/Security - This is a very strong issue for me as I firmly believe that men in Delhi only think of women as show pieces and wouldn't let go of an opportunity to stare inside a girls' shirt! Although Mumbai men are no less who do the same but at least they don't turn to such heinous acts which men in Delhi are famous for.I would see girls in Mumbai move around without much tension at night but in Delhi moving around in the colony itself at night is a thing I've still not seen.

4.Babus - Government servants or Babus as they are called,do not work on a "bribe and work" policy which happens often here in Delhi. You can get the work done without bribing someone and the quickness would be the same if you had bribed too.So better to keep the money in your pocket!

5.Concerts - Yes! Mumbai hosts many concerts and many international artists come to Mumbai for a gig but seeing them in Delhi is a dream which still has to be fulfilled.Boo you Delhi Government with its lax arrangement and high entertainment tax!

So I leave it up to you to decide which city you like more(because I don't know which I like more!) and leave your comments.

Thanks for reading!

Man's best friend?

BARK BARK!! WOOF WOOF!! BARK BARK BARK BARK!!

It is believed that dog is man's best friend but lately that feeling seems to be dwindling in my head.I mean don't get me wrong I like dogs after my friends made me get used to their licking and snooping around but recently the stray dogs in my lane ONLY have become a major pain.

They keep barking and barking all night.Chase cars and the worst is for people on two wheelers who are also chased and may lose balance too.I don't know who to blame for it?Should the Residential society be blamed for not doing enough?Should the MCD be blamed?Should the residents be blamed?

I am of the opinion that the people are to be blamed. The residents I mean.In the name of a good deed or "Punya" as we call it people feed them every day and every night and in turn these stray dogs stick around in the area and would live on these feedings.I agree that they are living organisms too but what is the point of earning Punya in the name of getting others bitten in exchange!?

I hope the situation improves as the civic amenities don't think its an important issue.

May Monsoon

The title might sound very absurd considering its not a title I would keep, but I feel is apt to describe the end of the month of May for the year 2008.Delhi generally doesn't have a rainy, watery May but this year was an exception.
Before you think this blog post is about weather changes and effects of Global Warming, its not!
Its about how something/someone came like a calm and cool wind that everyone loves and wants desperately to happen often and left like a storm,a hurricane, a cyclone which left me reeling under its effect. Its happened for the first time that am still jolted and await the breeze to blow on my face again. This might not be proper alliteration either but this is what I liked.
Now you must be wondering who/what I'm talking about..?
Its about the person that matters the most to me in the world, everything about her bothers me.Her smile makes me smile, her tears make me want to cry with her,her little anger scares me,her little pout deserves the attention it gets and frankly speaking she does deserve the attention she gets.I don't think naming that person would be the correct thing to do but if you're someone close to me then you would know by now who am talking about.
This wind entered the capital city on 29th May around evening time. The entry wasn't as expected. It had brought with it a bit of dust which didn't make the first day a happy day for me or the wind itself who was looking forward to being in a new city. But as I couldn't see the poor wind from being in a bad mood I met her and tried to sooth it down.I think I succeeded in my efforts. The wind was happy to see me and I couldn't have been happier to welcome the wind to my city.
On the second day,the wind was calmer and happier than the first day but as luck would have it,the second day proved to be a disaster too.The wind was totally shattered in its dreams and aspirations of enjoying this new city but a quiet dinner at night did make it feel better.
The third day couldn't be bad I thought. It couldn't be and it shouldn't be bad for the wind I promised myself.I met the wind in the morning and had wonderful plans for the wind to move about and spread her cheerfulness and happiness not just to me but to others as well. The third day would be the last day as both of us knew.By evening time the toll of the thought of separation had begun to enter both of our souls.Neither of us wanted to leave but the wind couldn't stay as it had to spread cheerfulness and happiness in other parts too.A dinner again worked well as the wind was probably temporarily distracted now of the thought of leaving.
By night time,I had bid adieu to the wind and the feeling of separation and loneliness began to come back and haunt me.The warm wind had now started having the effects of a huge storm which makes people cry and miss it while it was just a wind in the beginning of its phase.A little ray of hope still persisted in me that I would get to meet the wind for 1 day more,1 hour more,1 minute more but the mellow wind had left me reeling under its effect both emotionally and psychologically.
I hope to meet the wind in the near future, without her I miss how life totally is awesome and something to stay alive for, something to breathe for, something to stay healthy for.I've never been this affected by the wind than today.I've spent the whole day reeling under the magical memories of the wind and me together.I wish everyone gets a wind like this in their life,am sure I have one in mine.
I wish the wind and I remain together forever
and
EVER..
and
EVER..

UPDATE : The wind has safely reached its destined destination and I still cannot believe the wind blowing is over for now and am back in the humid weather with the hot scorching sun upon me.I wish the time could have gone slower.I just wish.....

Looks matter?

I was talking to a girl some weeks back on a chat room where the conversation headed to our relationship statuses and I am committed and I don’t really remember what her status was but one thing that she asked thereafter, startled me. She asked me, ”How does your girlfriend look?”. Frankly speaking this is a very common question and most asked when you tell someone you’re committed but I don’t understand why. Why does it matter how a person looks? Would you only like people who are pretty/handsome and cute and not care about how they are as a person and how they would treat you and how you both would connect (or not) ? Are these things totally immaterial against how HOT the person is? Also here I would like to mention how HOT as an expression sounds totally vulgar as against PRETTY.
This also raises the question about love at first SIGHT, is it possible? Is it realistic? Just by looking at the person for the FIRST time are you able to judge how a person would be? I certainly think this isn’t possible. You cannot know a person completely even if you spend your life with them and here you’re talking how you LOVE a person just by looking at them for the very FIRST time. So stupid!
Although I do agree that all of us who claim that we don’t care about the looks of either ourselves or people we like/love are not totally saying the truth. We all care about it but would never agree that we do. We all have our phases of how we think we’re not pretty/handsome/cute/*other synonyms here* and those who don’t are either lying or are blondes. (Yes I don’t like blondes much!)
Also isn’t it possible that one person may not be cute in your view but might just be the cutest person alive in others’ view after all you know what they say, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”
That’s all I have to say.
Until the next thought in my head, Ciao.
Oh as always, comments are appreciated.

Weddings - A yawner

"I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury."
-Groucho Marx

“My husband and I divorced over religious differences. He thought he was God, and I didn't.” -Unknown

I went to a wedding last week.It had been ages since I had been to a wedding, be it for a known relative or any random person getting into this mess which he might be in for the rest of his/her life.
It was my cousin's wedding, who am not so close to anyway but I could not find a way to miss the wedding as my exams were over and I had nothing major(or minor but thats a different story titled "My sucky life") to do to get away. The marriage date was fixed a few hours before the marriage(Yes you heard me right.A few hours!)Well you see my family and people close to my family(especially mom's side) have people who believe in the 18th century traditions of janam patri and other wedding rituals which are annoying to say the least and the priest thought mentioning a date for tomorrow would be a good idea and as it turns out it was implemented. Then started the frenzy of inviting people via phone, ordering for food, looking for banquet hall, buying clothes and other 200million things to be done.Believe it or not,but the groom got his wedding dress only around 6 for the 8pm wedding!
Although everything went fine with the decorations and food and the dress but I don't think holding a wedding on such short notice is a good idea.Continuing with the events of the wedding,we reached when the baraat was going towards the banquet hall.
I actually like the baraats and I guess I had danced in my cousin's marriage too but this time I didn't feel like.I was actually thinking how much money goes into weddings and post wedding functions and even pre wedding functions.
After an unbearable 45-50minute wait for the baraat to enter the banquet hall, which I endured by messaging,it finally entered the premesis. You know who gets the most bored at this time of the proceedings? The groom. All he's doing is either sitting on the horse and looking at how everyone is dancing or sitting in the recent methods of development in the wedding industry,a chariot.Even then he's sitting and looking, although more comfortably as compared to on a horse.
As we went inside the wedding hall, the waiters wearing neat dresses are standing with yummy looking food, which I hungrily gulped down and my stomach seemed to be breathing after that and got selfish for more and I really like my stomach I can't see it wanting more and not getting it so I satisfied it some more.
As the marriage ceremonies continued I kept thinking how bored the bride and the groom would be.Doing nothing but sitting there and giving fake smiles and posing for pictures and accepting money packets, lets keep money packets out of the boring zone.

The best part about marriages?THE BUFFET!You can eat as much as you can and its very rare that I find food at marriages being horribly boring and tasteless.
This was my experience of a recent wedding as I didn't stay for the pheras.
Oh another startling thing would be how many people turned up for the wedding despite the short notice and as per my mom these were just the close relatives. As per my estimate there were 200 people and not less.Apparently, mom's aunty's daughter is a close relative as per my family!!
Comments would be appreciated. Thanks for reading :D

Little Blah here,Little Blah there

I am sorry for not being regular (like anyone reads this but what the hell!)
Well this blog post is going to cover up for the whole April. Since this is a whole month and so far we're done with 23 days, am going to diversify this into 3parts.

1. General Blabber bibber
2. College fashion (yeah read on!)
3. Global Warming (yes I will also give you information on this!)

Well let’s start off.
I was thinking of stopping from writing blogs but all of my readers’ love brought me back (this is what I would have said had you people commented!) but somehow I brought myself back(courtesy that special someone who comments on my blog and is a fan of my writing (yes loadsa crap!)).So to all those out there, here, everywhere, even those who are online when they’re not supposed to be and all those who just stumbled upon this blog from somewhere, I would be very grateful if you people commented. It does nothing but appreciates the writer and motivates him/her and I don’t mean it for my blog alone but for any blog that you like.

2. College Fashion
My exams commenced last week (17th April) and it is a very hectic period filled with studies (yeah right!) and tension (this for sure!). So in this hectic period I forgot to carry my Admit Card allotted to every student by the university and carries your roll number and is a proof document. As I reached college around 2.15 for the 3pm exam,I realised the unthinkable has happened and this is worst case scenario. It made no sense to go back and get the admit card so I asked some other students who seemed like they had faced this situation before. They told me that you have to contact the principal and let her know and she will do the needful. I checked her room she wasn’t there (PANIC PANIC!!).I then went looking around in the offices of the evening department as well as the morning department. I found her in the principal office of the morning department (insert relief words here!).
I entered and she gave me the wardrobe check look (yeah that’s a look!).Oh I was wearing 3/4ths or capris and t-shirt (its bloody hot people!).So the conversation went on like this;
Principal: Yeh tumne kya pehna hai? (What are you wearing?)
[Comment: am used to the ridicule towards 3/4ths and how everyone this they’re “Half Pants”]
Me: Ma’m bahar bahut garmi hai. (Ma’m its very hot outside!)
Principal: Toh kal agar aur zyada garmi hogi toh tum kuch pehnoge nahi? (If it’s very hot outside then would you roam about naked?)
Me (with a smile which I would describe as a smile I give to get rid of her and to just get out of there!): Nahi ma’m.Actually main apna admit card ghar bhool aaya hoon (No ma’m actually I forgot my admit card at home…)
And the other part of the conversation is insignificant. I find this to be very absurd that how this fashion is made fun of. I mean am sure the first person who wore jeans in public would have been giggled at by other trouser wearing men who would have thought how preposterous their outfit was.

Now, to point three/trois/drei/teen

3.Global Warming
I was watching this movie called The Inconvenient Truth (starring Al Gore) its about how he gives complete information about global warming and how it is affecting our planet adversely and also I saw this tid-bit which had aired on national geographic about earth report. It was very moving as to how we're ruining our planet which might not even exist in some time. So as responsible citizens I request you to do little bits from your part to conserve energy and save the environment. I've started off with unplugging the charger after phone is fully charged (not just turning the switch off but unplugging the charger too) and then switching off unnecessary lights,fans,a/cs,tv's etc when they are not in use.I would be posting further links about how to save the environment and make this earth a better planet than Pluto! (I still feel sorry for that fella! Damn you NASA!)
Comments are appreciated.
Thanks

Relationships are complicated!

I may not get to see you as often as I like. I may not get to hold you in my arms all through the night. But deep in my heart I truly know, you're the one that I love, and I can't let you go.
~Anonymous

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
~Leo Buscaglia

Have you ever felt how one thing that affects a very dear person to you, affects you too?How when they are sad,you are sad too?How when they are happy, you beam too? Then maybe you're in LOVE.Am not saying that only Love gets you that feeling but friendship can too and family as well. But as for me its Love.
Its very absurd that he/she can rule your mood, not purposely of course.Even when it is something you can't fix and it is something you didn't do and aren't even remotely associated with.Is it a good thing that you are this close to a person or is it a bad thing that everything around them bothers you??
I am of the view that its all part of the relationship. You can't just expect the positive thing all the time. There isn't happiness always but sadness and despair too.You have to accept everything that comes along.
Of course this blog entry is not for people who are in a relationship for fun but for serious people in a serious relationship.
Views on this would be appreciated.
Adios :)

RESPECT AND PROTECT WOMEN

Date : 14/03/2008
Time : 13:20
Location : Okhla Mandi Bus stop,East of kailash,Delhi
Event : A man gets down from the bus plying on route no 433 from the driver's side and starts to walk towards the back of the bus.I am behind a lady who is getting on the bus from the back door. The man walks towards the lady and brushes his hand on her behind, she turns her head around but as he's walking forward and she's got on the bus by now,she ignores.
I am taken aback by this incident. And the worst part is I could have done something but I didn't.I could have yelled or if it had to come to that, resorted to violence.
I don't understand why anyone would do that.Is the male species too desperate for female attention that he resorts to such disgusting acts?Or is it the just the Indian male group which has lowered itself to such sickness?
This is generalizing for sure but I don't see anything wrong in generalizing this right now.
Checking out girls and vice-versa is accepted but this goes to a totally new low.
I know a lot has been said and done about protecting women and increasing security but can there be any change until the common man realizes that what he's doing is wrong and unethical?
I hope many people read this and pass the word around to everyone to stand up to such people and protect ladies around you.
Thanks

reality check

“Behavior is a mirror in which every one displays his image.”
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

“My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”
Oprah Winfrey

"Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act."
George W. Crane

Have you ever had those days when you feel really bad about yourself?Like totally are disgusted with yourself and your behavior?
Well, thats what is happening to me NOW.I know of the exiguous readers that I have no one actually cares what is happening in my life.Agreed but this can be general also if you tend to apply the same position I'm in to your life.So continuing, you feel good about yourself and you think you're all goodie goodie,BAM!!NEWSFLASH:SOME PEOPLE WOULD DIFFER WITH YOUR "THOUGHT".And,the person who would differ is not someone you've been mean to or that guy in school/college you tend to pick on a lot but someone close to you and someone who knows you well.Thats when you get a cold reality check about yourself. You would obviously take their suggestions and views in a positive way if you do agree with them which is what I did.Otherwise you can have all the arguments and fights but still that person would NOT change their views towards you(in most cases).
Its actually a good thing that you're getting criticism and getting to know your flaws from someone you care about and vice-versa.This doesn't mean you should lose all your self confidence and self belief but this is just to make you realize that you still need to work on your behavior and the way you act.
Like the first quote above, you have to have a good behavior to have a good image. You can even have negative image if you have negative behavior,if thats what you aim for that is.
Thats pretty much it.

more than parents

No matter where you go or what you do, you live your entire life within the confines of your head. ~Terry Josephson

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use. ~Soren Kierkegaard

I wanted to write this blog about 3-4 weeks back,on the topic I have in mind that is.I was watching the oldie shows that are running on zee cafe for like forever,I've seen full house like 200million times already and its still going on!!And c'mon till whenare we going to see friends reruns?Agreed I'm watching that show at this very second am writing this line but still don't we need newer shows.I'm pretty sure even with the writers' strike in US there are still shows that are gonna appeal to Indian audience, mainly teenage audience I mean.Ok moving on from this T.V. show topic.
I was watching that show and the theme for that episode was that the main character in the show, kevin as the character is called and his friend Paul are two 15years old students. And Paul is down for some reason and he goes to kevins' home and is comforted and made to feel better by kevin's mom.And the episode revolves around how kevin thinks that his friend knows more about his mom than he ever did.In the final scene of the show,he says how the kids see the parents as only parents and not as human beings who have their life too.
Which is what my topic/issue at hand is.
DO WE SEE OUR PARENTS MORE THAN JUST PEOPLE WHO FULFILL OUR NEEDS AND DESIRES?
Have we ever seen our parents more than just people to ask money from?Mom to ask food for?Dad to have the car keys?
Do you know what degree your mom has?Or heck what year are they born in?Or what interests does your dad have?Or how they met and how was it at their wedding?
This episode really caught me thinking and I'm pretty sure this post would do the same to you.
