I have had a dismal evening courtesy the story that I first read on Desipundit and then covered on various blogs and condemned by various bloggers.
I would not like to go on the nitty-gritty of the situation right now but would ask you,as a reader,to click on the following link and check what other esteemed bloggers had to say of how NDTV used its might as a media conglomerate to overpower a blogger about NDTV's irresponsible media coverage during the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.

Slumdog Millionaire's success and Big B's views

I'm sure everyone is aware of Slumdog Millionaire's stupendous success in Europe and America with awards at Golden Globes and nominations for the BAFTA awards and the expectancy for Oscars thereafter. If you aren't aware then click here.
What has created far greater media furor is not the movie itself but how Amitabh Bachchan criticised the movie on his blog and his comments have not gone down well with many of the film critics.
Amitabh Bachchan had earlier said :
"If SM projects India as Third World dirty under belly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky under belly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations. Its just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not."
I do not agree with The Big B's views like many others.Am the kind of people who would call a spade,a spade. If India is a third world country,it is a third world country. Its not that only the under developed countries are portrayed as poor in the movies, there have been many instances of developed countries being shown as under bellied too.The best example that comes to mind is,Erin Brockovich or The Pursuit of Happyness. Both of these movies showed how hard it was for the family to make ends meet.
Other point which he mentioned about the idea being used by the Westerner gets global recognition whereas the same cannot be said about an Indian doing the same.I wonder if any Indian film maker would move on from their concepts of love stories and "rona dhona" to interesting concepts as these.
P.S.Dharavi,the biggest slum in Asia is in Mumbai.Lets not forget the truth rather than reflect only upon the flowery picture of developing India.
What are your views on Big B's comments?
In the end,I would like to wish good luck to the whole crew of Slumdog Millionaire for the releasing of the movie in India on January 23rd and the awards nominations thereafter.

Mumbai's tag of global city is hit
I am sure many of you would be aware of the vandalizing nature of MNS(Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena) chief,Raj Thakrey and his men and seen their acts of hurting North Indian's on the reason of protecting the "Marathi Manus".
Times of India had an article running today (Sunday Times,02 November,Delhi Edition) showing how what we earlier thought was limited to political games has actually hit the mindset of the local people too. These aforementioned article bears some startling incidents which would make any Indian bow his/her head in shame and question the country's "biggest democracy" stance which we somehow are very proud of.

Mumbai: ‘‘Loud discussions have given way to whispers... that’s what’s really scary,’’ is how a north Indian techie who has spent the better part of his life in Mumbai described the new mood in the city. The divisiveness, which began as a political tamasha a few weeks ago and spiralled into violence, has begun to slowly but steadily seep into the life of the ordinary Mumbaikar. Suddenly, the man on the street is defining himself as ‘native’ or an ‘outsider’.
Whether in offices, on trains, in market places and school compounds, a sense of anxiety has surfaced. Tension is especially palpable in stressful surroundings such as a jampacked train compartment. Susheel Sukhraj, an entertainment professional, wrote in to TOI to say he had witnessed several instances of young boys being cussed on trains as ‘bhaiyyas’ and cases when rank strangers banded to turn on a fellow traveller with, ‘‘You have dirtied our city.’’
Clarifying that he himself is a ‘‘Marathi from Panchgani’’, Sukhraj says that he is disturbed by the things he sees everyday while travelling from Navi Mumbai to Andheri. ‘‘At Mankhurd station, a north Indian boy standing at the door was deliberately hit on the head by someone in the surging crowd. The man then quickly disappeared inside the compartment but continued to pass snide remarks to provoke a fight,’’ says Sukhraj, recalling an incident that took place on Thursday morning.
Even middle-class north Indians are feeling the chill. Jaiprakash, an engineer with an IT firm in Andheri, says that north Indian employees at his workplace prefer to hang out together after work and ‘‘feel odd’’ about interacting with Marathis, lest something provocative be said.
But the real brunt continues to be borne by poor immigrants — cab drivers, watchmen, daily wage earners and odd-jobs men. ‘‘On Thursday night I found an autorickshaw driver weeping at Gokuldham in Goregaon. I asked him what was wrong and he said that his previous passenger, a Marathi man, had refused to pay and slapped him when he asked for the fare,’’ says a senior media correspondent. ‘‘Then, on Friday afternoon, a cabbie told me that a young man got into his taxi at Churchgate and said, ‘‘Girgaum chal, main batata hoon. When they reached Girgaum, the man simply walked away.’’
The fallout is best summed up by Kishan Rajak who moved to Mumbai a decade ago and started working with a laundry. When he saw pictures of a bus burning in Kalyan after Raj’s arrest, the 24-year-old simply said, ‘‘This place is not safe anymore,’’ and left for UP.
If the people involved in it are reading this then be very ashamed of what you did and if you think its the right thing to do then you're very wrong.
While researching I came across an interesting blog post too which I would like to share as well.

MY FIRST 11 a side FOOTIE MATCH
So here I am,using my pc for update this time around because I'm presuming its fixed now as it hasn't shut down on itself YET *fingers crossed*
Its 15:46(3:46pm for all people unaware of millitary time conversions) and I'm done with football and lunch.
OK about football. We lost 9-0.Yeah you saw it right.9 zilch!!zip.zero.shunya.anda.gola.*insert other translations of zero here*it was fun to play but only problem WE DINT GET THE F-IN BALL.the times we did,we would always be great generous people and give it back to our opponents who were all blacks, dunno where they hail from??The full field isnt that long,at least for me,to run ie coz I DIDN'T RUN much.lol.Though its long for passing it over the other teams' players. We lacked discipline and skill to be out there on the pitch to win.they were good in running, passing, skills which turns out to be the whole friggin game!!
We did create two chances for goals though. One was good passing from me and another guy but then there wasn't much skill in the striker and another was the other teams' goalkeepers mistake who gave the ball right in front to our player who well took a shoot from there and *insert suspense music here* and it went above the goal.
After the game got over I found my team to be more happy and cheerful than the team who won, courtesy making jokes about their accent and also that some guys could now smoke.I think its like oxygen for them!
We got to see the team we're due to play tomorrow too.The goalkeeper and their striker are known to me and they're good players. This striker can actually juggle a basketball on his foot.*insert ooh aah-s here..not erotic ones but shocked and amazed types*
Now its 16:02(4:02pm) and we were to practice at 4 and i don't see anyone coming for it.NOT shocking at all!
I've got tuition @ 7.30 and have to get a tattoo for myself but don't think I've got money (or plan to ask mom for it) or that much time for it.So would just laze around or would study (YEAH STUDY).Would write later if i find something worthy of mention aka blabber worthy!
Also,on the occasion of WORLD AIDS DAY I would request all careless fuckers to be sensible and use protection.Even to the shy guys out there who can't go to their chemist shop and buy one.Jeez people, its not a taboo. Its the need of the hour. Also,do not use infected pins and syringes.Have a test before marriage, its not one person along whose gonna suffer but two people and their families thereafter. So,be wise.
UPDATE @ 12:33amYeah,about the return of the dancing diva of the 90's,the dhak dhak girl, the lady who can make a 90yr old get horny*sincere apologies to the readers and the person himself,BAH who cares.lol*MADHURI DIXIT with her return in Aaja Nachle.I don't understand why and how there are always controversies around big banner productions or movies with great cast. This time its in the lyrics of the title song and objections raised has made the movie being banned in UP.It is like making a mountain out of a mole hill.god.Just checked the ban's been lifted after apologies from lyricist and yash raj camp.Is it not freedom of expression is what i ask?
